WORK HISTORY:

May 2003 - to date Ph.D. Candidate University of Calgary
• Research focused on Q-enhanced active filters , noise, linearity and frequency response
• Devised a new Q-enhancement scheme solely based on on-chip spiral inductors which produces multistage Q-enhanced filters with low passband distortion, low power consumption and high linearity.
September 2000 – April 2003 M.Sc. Candidate TR Labs & University of Calgary
• Graduated with thesis titled Spiral Inductor Q-Enhancement Techniques
• Research focused on transformer based active Q-enhancement schemes of spiral inductors with potential applications to active filters
• Designed fully integrated 1.8GHz voltage controlled oscillators including an oscillator with improved resonant tank Q based on a Frlan transformer
• Designed and fabricated a fully integrated frequency synthesizer for Bluetooth specification standard
• Designed and simulated with realistic conditions low noise amplifiers and Gilbert mixers

May 1996 – September 2000 Programmer analyst (part time) Information Technologies, University of Calgary
• Responsible for maintaining the Remedy Action Requestor System (ARS), application used by Information Technologies for workflow automation
• Provided technical support, help and information to the instructors using CMLS (Computer Managed Learning System owned by the Math Department of the U of C
• Responsible for creating linear algebra questions to enhance the question banks of CMLS
• Responsible for CMLS development at source code level (Visual Basic 3.0) including:
-Improving the GUI for the CMLS instructor interface
-Improving the scoring procedures for the CMLS questions
-Designing a client-server application to refresh and echo the CMLS server (daemon).
• Designed an HTML internal help system for the students using CMLS
• Created a User Manual for CMLS
• Responsible for upgrading the Remedy ARS to accommodate the version 4.0 features
• Integrated MS Access reports with Remedy ARS via ODBC linking to the Remedy Oracle database and Visual Basic conversion functions
• Responsible for replacing the ad-hoc MS Access reports with Seagate Crystal Reports
• Developed and customized the Remedy ARS application templates related to:
- Asset inventory
- Help desk
- Asset ordering
The design work involved a thorough understanding of the Remedy ARS capabilities and SQL databases as well as consulting the users in order to best meet their needs.
• Responsible for designing conversion tools - Perl scripts- to transfer the AOSS (IBM PROFS), ELM, PINE, SIMEON mail files to the more reliable Netscape Communicator
• Responsible for designing conversion tools - Perl scripts- to transfer the AOSS (IBM PROFS) mail and calendar files to the more reliable Netscape Communicator
